Your House Doesn't Have to Be Spotless Before the Cleaner Arrives.
I've heard homeowners say some variation of this more times than I can count.
“I had to clean before the cleaner came because I was embarrassed.”
And I understand why people feel that way.
You're letting somebody into your personal space, and there's this strange pressure to make sure your house looks presentable before they arrive.
But here's the thing.
I'm not walking into your home expecting it to look like a magazine.
I'm there because you want help maintaining it.
I've cleaned homes that were already in excellent condition. I've cleaned homes that clearly hadn't received much attention in a while.
And I've never walked out of somebody's house thinking less of them because their floors were dirty or their bathroom needed a good scrub.
Life gets busy.
People work long hours. They raise children. They care for family members. They deal with health problems, exhaustion, and a hundred other responsibilities.
Sometimes cleaning ends up at the bottom of the list.
That's normal.
Now, there is a difference between cleaning and organizing.
If every countertop is buried under belongings, I can't properly clean those surfaces without moving everything around.
But you don't need to scrub your bathtub, wash your floors, or wipe down your kitchen before I arrive.
That's literally what you're paying me to do.
And I think more people need to hear this:
Needing help maintaining your home doesn't mean you're lazy, dirty, or incapable.
It means you've decided your time and energy might be better spent somewhere else.
That's a perfectly reasonable decision.
So I'm curious.
How many of you have actually cleaned your house before your cleaner arrived because you were embarrassed about what they'd think?
