🚨 A small sign on your wall could point to a bigger problem behind it.

Subterranean termites live underground and build mud tubes to reach the wood in your home—including inside walls. They can quietly consume structural wood for years before a homeowner notices anything wrong.

What you see on the surface may be only a small part of what’s happening behind the wall. The visible signs don’t tell you the full extent of the damage.

Don’t wait for obvious destruction. If you notice mud tubes, bubbling paint, or unusual spots like these, leave the area undisturbed and schedule a professional termite inspection.

The Inside Still Matters
Exterior prevention is important—but pests that have already entered your home may continue moving after crossing a treated perimeter.
That’s why ChemTec takes the time to inspect the areas where customers are actually seeing activity. When appropriate, service can include targeted interior treatment, monitoring devices, bait placements and recommendations for correcting entry points or conditions that support the problem.
Quality pest control should address the customer’s concern—not simply complete the fastest possible stop.
Child- and pet-friendly once treatments are dry. No contract or automatic monthly billing.

Amazing Termite Fact
This acoustic signaling strategy—known as head-banging or vibroacoustic communication—is a fascinating adaptation.

How Head-Banging Works
When a predator (like an ant) breaks into a mud tube or wooden gallery, soldier termites slam their hard, heavily armored heads against the wood at rates up to 11 to 28 times per second.

* Substrate conduction: Termites are virtually blind and deaf to airborne sounds. Instead, they feel the physical vibrations traveling through the wood fibers using specialized sensory organs (subgenual organs) located in their legs.ďż˝
* Rapid cascade: The vibration travels along the structural frame of the nest faster than chemical pheromones can diffuse through the air, alerting the colony within milliseconds.ďż˝
* Targeted response: The seismic signal instructs soldier termites to head toward the disturbance to plug the breach with their mandibles, while worker termites evacuate deeper into the nest with larvae.ďż˝

While you usually can't hear them with the naked ear, severe infestations can actually generate a faint clicking or rustling noise inside walls if you place an acoustic detector—or your ear—directly against the drywall.
