Do you own a business in the service industry?
For example : cleaning and janitorial businesses, general contracting, painting, home decorating, organizing, flooring etc.
What sets you apart from everyone else?
The workforce is pretty consistently the same all over. You can have dedicated employees or contractors, loyal ones, hardworking ones and they still get burnt out. Why? Because they’re human.
If you are a business owner that doesn’t either have a manager (s) or go out in the field on your own behind your teams.. you will not keep your clients.
I’m the first business owner to admit that my employees/ contractors are not perfect or amazing. They work hard, long days. They make mistakes, they miss things and they experience routine burnout. What makes sure that the work is still completed to a top notch level? Quality Assurance. Going in behind the starters with a fresh set of eyes. Catching the small fixes. Catching the loose ends. Tying things together FOR and WITH your TEAM.
If you don’t have a passion for the business you created, you will not deliver amazing service and you will not impress your clients.
In the beginning, we were going out every day cleaning ourselves. As we grew, we didn’t always have the opportunity to go in behind the cleaners and help make sure everything was Spotless. We lost clients, we learned lessons and we made changes.
My clients are very aware that my cleaners aren’t any more magical than any other cleaners. It’s the whole team and multiple levels of effort and determination that deliver that glowing “welcome home” cleaning.
If you struggle with inconsistencies and are constantly coming down on your workers for things that could be fixed with some help, I highly recommend adding that extra level.
Your business and your clients will absolutely notice the difference.
Here’s to an exciting new year for small business owners! If you happen to have one, please post your business link in the comments.
