9,000 ORIGINAL MILES | 2010 DODGE VIPER SRT10
Low mileage doesnāt always mean trouble-freeāespecially on a 16-year-old performance car that has spent much of its life sitting.
Our client contacted us about his all-original, 9,000-mile 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 after it developed an extremely rough idle, reduced power, and drivability issues. His request was simple: properly diagnose the problem, make the car dependable again, and bring the entire vehicle back to the condition its mileage deserves.
Thatās exactly what we set out to do.
The Viper arrived at our facility by rollback, and we began with a complete diagnostic evaluation before replacing anything. The vehicle was displaying multiple throttle-body and fuel-related faults, accompanied by an unstable idle and severely limited throttle response.
With the carās age and limited use in mind, we worked through the fuel, air-management, electrical, and throttle-control systems systematically. Both electronic throttle bodies were removed, inspected, and cleaned, the old fuel was removed and replaced with fresh fuel, and the vehicle received a new OPTIMA Batteries RedTop to establish a stable electrical foundation for further diagnosis.
Once those issues were addressed, proper throttle operation and drivability were restored.
Because this is a low-mileage collector-quality car that may spend extended periods parked, we also hardwired a Battery Tender Junior to maintain battery condition between drives.
From there, we moved beyond simply fixing the original complaint and recommissioned the car from front to back.
The Viper received a complete fluid and filter service using AMSOIL INC. fluids and an OEM Mopar oil filter, along with fresh filters throughout. The aging tires were replaced with new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, and during our inspection we identified a small leak developing from the oil-cooler lines. Rather than simply repairing an aging factory component, we upgraded the system with Havik Performance oil-cooler lines for improved long-term reliability.
The owner also wanted improved audio quality without sacrificing the originality of the interior. Vipers present a challenging acoustic environment, and maintaining an OEM appearance was non-negotiable. We disassembled the factory subwoofer enclosure, addressed the known enclosure/port concerns, installed a Memphis Audio subwoofer, and upgraded the cabin with hand-woven Focal speakersāall while retaining a clean, factory appearance.
Finally, our detailing team completely disassembled and deep-cleaned the interior, carefully addressing years of accumulation in areas that normally never see attention. The exterior underwent a complete multi-stage paint correction to restore clarity and depth to the original finish before being protected with SE Auto Products ceramic coating.
The goal with a car like this isnāt to reinvent it.
Itās to diagnose it correctly, preserve what makes it special, correct the effects of age, and improve reliability without compromising originality.
A 9,000-mile Viper deserves more than a quick repair, it deserves to be properly recommissioned.
