This past weekend, I had the most amazing time exploring Kentucky and attending my very first Kentucky Derby race🐎 Something I was beyond excited for. Not only was it a beautiful experience filled with unforgettable moments and amazing people, but witnessing the race itself in person was truly magical.
Watching such a historic and emotional win unfold at the 152nd Kentucky Derby is a moment that’s honestly hard to put into words. Huge congrats to Cherie DeVaux, who made history as the first female trainer to win 1st place. Her story behind this victory is so impactful and such a powerful reminder that as women, we are capable of absolutely anything we set our minds to. No matter how far the finish line may seem, with faith, resilience, hard work, and dedication, we can accomplish it and make it happen.
During the race, it felt like seconds watching Golden Temple go from last place and work his way to first. To me, that was a pure testimonial of what God is able to do. After the win, I noticed Golden Temple also had a white cross on his forehead 🥹 another beautiful reminder that God can take you from last place to first place in any moment. His timing is always perfect💛
That race became more than just a race to me. It became a reminder to continue pushing forward, even during the moments we feel behind, discouraged, or like our pace isn’t fast enough. Sometimes the most impactful victories come after the hardest races. And when that finish line finally comes, it becomes one unforgettable moment that makes every setback worth it.
It was also incredibly beautiful to witness Jose Ortiz win this race and proudly represent Puerto Rico. His story is just as inspiring, and there’s something so special about achieving a dream with his brother right beside him in second place❤️🙌🏻
In Cherie’s own words:
“You can dream big and you can pivot. You can come from one place and make yourself a part of history.”
Let this be a reminder to every woman, that just because we fall time and time again, or because it feels like we’re moving slower than everyone else, does not mean we are losing. Keep Running your race! God’s timing is always perfect❤️🐎
