Dodge, here’s my pitch.
The Super Bee name is officially back. We just don’t know exactly what Dodge has planned yet. Most of us are assuming it’s returning on the Charger, and if that’s the case, here’s what I think the lineup should look like.
• Super Bee – 5.7L HEMI V8 (395 HP)
• Super Bee 392 – 6.4L HEMI V8 (470 HP)
• Super Bee SRT – 6.2L Supercharged HEMI V8 (777 HP)
The blueprint is already there. Dodge is already bringing three V8-powered Rumble Bee trucks to market, so why not follow the same strategy with the Charger? Give enthusiasts a clear progression from the 5.7, to the 392, all the way up to a supercharged SRT.
Yes, the Hurricane inline-six is an impressive engine, and it may end up making incredible horsepower. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from this community, it’s that horsepower isn’t everything. The sound, the character, and the heritage of a HEMI V8 are what so many people still want.
If Dodge really wants the return of the Super Bee to make a statement, this is the lineup I’d build. I genuinely believe these cars would have people lining up at dealerships.
Now I want to hear from you. If Dodge announced these three Super Bee models tomorrow, which one are you taking home?
