Do I need to clean/maintain my gutters?
The short answer is, yes.
For a lot of homeowner’s and renters, gutters are out of sight and out of mind. We want to remind you of one big reason to ensure your gutters are properly cleaned and maintained year round.
Damage to your home.
One thing may go overlooked - what your insurance company will and will not cover when it comes to damage to your home.
Most of us know the major events that our insurance company will cover. However, you may not realize that most insurance policies contain a clause which excludes any damage caused by neglect.
For example, you have noticed your home has foundation issues, but your insurance company notices that your gutters are old, leaking, and clogged. They could deem this the reason for your foundation issues as the water is not being properly funneled away from your home’s foundation. The end result, a lofty repair bill for your foundation, out of your pocket.
