Mosquitoes enjoy the summer season as much as we do, and they only need a tiny bit of standing water to take over your yard.

In addition to professional mosquito control services, eliminating mosquito breeding sites by addressing areas with standing water is super important for maintaining a mosquito-free environment.

This blog post shares tips and tricks for how you can identify and address standing water around your yard: https://www.simplygreenlawncare.com/blog/prevent-standing-water-from-being-a-breeding-ground-for-mosquitoes/

With the summer heat in full swing, watering your grass is crucial for maintaining a healthy, green lawn. However, watering at the wrong time or using the wrong watering method can waste water and hurt your lawn.

The best time to water is early in the morning, between 4:00 am and 10:00 am, when temperatures are cooler. Watering early helps avoid water waste due to evaporation during the heat of the day while also ensuring your lawn is dry by nightfall which reduces the risk of disease.

Most lawns require 1-1.5 inches of water per week during the growing season. Instead of watering every other day to achieve the recommended hydration levels, water 2-3 days in a row, then wait for 4-5 days before starting again. This helps the water to reach the deepest roots while allowing soil pores to open for oxygen.

Ever wonder why some parts of your lawn green up faster than others? It all comes down to soil temperature!

Here’s the deal: Areas of your lawn warm up at different rates based on:
✅ Sun vs. Shade: Sunny spots heat up faster, while shaded areas take longer.
✅ Soil Composition: Compact or clay-heavy soil holds cold longer than sandy soil.
✅ Elevation & Drainage: Low spots can stay cooler and wetter, delaying growth.

What can you do?
✔️Scalp your lawn!
✔️Remove thatch & debris so the sunlight can reach the soil.
✔️Be patient—nature has its own timeline!

If your lawn needs a little extra boost this spring, we’re here to help! Reach out for a custom lawn care plan and let’s get that green-up going. 🌱

Symptoms to Look For:

✅ Circular, discolored patches of grass that expand over time
✅ The borders of the patches can appear orange
✅ The center of the patch is often brown and sunken

Catching Large Patch early is key to keeping your Zoysia lawn lush and green all season long. Have you spotted signs of it in your yard? Drop a comment below or give us a call, we’re here to help!
