With the summer heat in full swing, watering your grass is crucial for maintaining a healthy, green lawn. However, watering at the wrong time or using the wrong watering method can waste water and hurt your lawn.
The best time to water is early in the morning, between 4:00 am and 10:00 am, when temperatures are cooler. Watering early helps avoid water waste due to evaporation during the heat of the day while also ensuring your lawn is dry by nightfall which reduces the risk of disease.
Most lawns require 1-1.5 inches of water per week during the growing season. Instead of watering every other day to achieve the recommended hydration levels, water 2-3 days in a row, then wait for 4-5 days before starting again. This helps the water to reach the deepest roots while allowing soil pores to open for oxygen.
