For years we have been cleaning the sidewalks in Downtown Clemson. We have seen several changes in the parking situation. The parking meters in the parking garage were replaced with single meters nears near the elevators while there was still free one hour parking downtown. Recently, the Clemson students turned all the downtown parking into their own student parking. The fine for parking longer then one hour would get them a $10.00 fine. Same for the parking garage. Since parking violators could only get one citation a day, the fines were cheaper than the student parking on Campus.

All that has changed this week. Free one hour parking is no more. Now you have to pay at one of the multiple parking meters. If the time you paid for expires, the meter reader will be instantly notified and you will receive a citation. And you can receive multiple citations a day with fines that increase with each ticket.

Today, the meter reader wrote 50 citations for parking violations. He told me that he expected to write 60 or more tickets on Thursday. So be aware.

I clean a lot of concrete sidewalks and driveways. I also get a lot of complaints from people saying there concrete still looks like it has red mud stain on it. These people would be surprised that all concrete is not gray. It really depends on the sand and gravel used in the concrete. The concrete may gray when first poured, but as the gray cement on the surface wears away. The color of the aggregate is exposed.

After I had backed down this driveway and was talking to the homeowner. I heard a crash behind me. A UPS truck had aggressively back down the driveway and smashed into my truck. Just to deliver a package that weight less than a half pound and keep from walking fifty feet.
