⛈️ There is a risk for severe thunderstorms tomorrow into early Wednesday morning across the Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Southeast. The primary hazard looks to be gusty and potentially damaging winds.

We were honored to complete restoration work at The Stonewall Jackson House, a property that preserves the home, interprets the life and times Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson, and offers visitors a glimpse into life in Lexington before the Civil War.

If you find yourself in Lexington, take some time to stop by and explore this remarkable piece of our nation’s history. Whether you're a lifelong history buff or just looking for something new to experience, The Jackson House Museum is well worth a visit and offers a unique connection to Virginia's past.

Remember that dry conditions mean even a single spark can start a wildfire. If you choose to use anything with a spark, take extra precautions.

💧 Have water ready. Keep a garden hose connected and a bucket of water nearby before lighting any fireworks.

🧯 Be prepared. A fire extinguisher is another good safety tool to have within reach.

🌾 Choose a safe location. Never use fireworks near dry grass, leaves, woods, mulch, or other combustible materials.

🎇 Use fireworks responsibly. Only light one at a time and never allow young children to handle fireworks.

🚫 Never relight a dud. Wait at least 20 minutes, then soak it thoroughly with water before disposing of it.

🗑️ Soak before you toss. Place used fireworks in a bucket of water overnight before putting them in the trash.

☎️ See smoke or fire? Call 911 immediately. Quick reporting can prevent a small fire from becoming a major emergency.
