I treated this home for bed bugs the other day in Lexington County.

They knew they had a Bed Bug issue, but we’re flabbergasted when I showed him exactly how bad it was and this particular Bed.

They did a lot of do it yourself treatments as most people do with bedbugs, but as you can tell in the video it failed

They knew they had bedbugs, but they were shocked when I actually saw how many were on the box springs.

This home is in Lexington County, and they've been dealing with bed bugs for some time. They thought it was mostly under control.

They showed me the white powder all around, which they thought was taking care of them, but when I pulled the mattress off and then the boxspring, they were astonished by how many bedbugs there really were.

This was one of the calls I received recently.

A lot of people call these "hornets," but around Lexington they're often bald-faced hornets, which are actually a type of yellowjacket.

One thing I can tell you from experience... you don't want to accidentally bump the branch this nest is hanging from. 😳

Unlike paper wasps, these insects can be extremely defensive when they feel their nest is threatened.

With all the rain and warm weather we've had this year, I've already seen a big increase in wasp and hornet activity. In fact, last Saturday alone I received four separate calls for wasps and hornets. (we are only a small local pest control company )

If you spot a nest like this around your home:

✅ Keep your distance

✅ Don't throw rocks, sticks, or spray water at it

✅ Keep children and pets away from the area

✅ Watch activity from a safe distance to determine where they're coming and going

Thankfully, most nests can be handled safely when caught early.

One of the fastest ways to ruin a good day in South Carolina?

Accidentally getting too close to a yellow jacket, hornet, or wasp nest. 😳

This time of year we're finding nests in shrubs, under eaves, around decks, inside sheds, and sometimes hidden underground where people don't even know they're there until the lawn mower finds them.

If you discover a nest, the best thing you can do is give it some space. Keep kids and pets away, avoid disturbing it, and resist the urge to spray it in the middle of the day when they're most active.

A little caution now can save you from a whole lot of stings later.

Moab and I spent the weekend camping down in Florida and had a great time getting away for a few days with my family.

But if you've noticed the bugs this year, they apparently didn't get the memo that it was vacation time. 😅

It's been one of the busiest starts to a season I can remember. The combination of warm temperatures and all this rain has mosquitoes, ants, palmetto bugs, spiders, wasps, and hornets moving around like crazy.

In fact, on Saturday alone, I received four separate calls for wasps and hornets.
So according to Moab, vacation is officially over and it's time for Dad to get back to saving Lexington from pest attacks. 🐶🐝

If you're seeing more bug activity around your home than usual, you're definitely not alone. This has been a very active year already, and we're still just getting started.
