Mike's Marine, Auto Detailing & Cleaning Services LLC We at Mike's Marine & Auto Detailing hold all of our jobs to a higher standard than most. Most are a After that it will look the same again.

I have been providing a detailing service for many years to the people of Southern MD for all there Marine & Auto Equipment. When I look at something, I look at what it can look like, Not how it looks at that point in time. There is a saying that I use, " It's Never To Far Gone To Shine" Now some people might say that anything can shine, Yes that is true! However, When it comes to a shine there ar

e so many different factors to take into consideration. Take a boat for instance that's been sitting in the sun for years uncovered that is oxidized and loosing it's protective Gel Coat. You can not just wash it a put a coat of wax on it, Yes if you do that it will shine for a week or two if your lucky. To get that true deep shine it has to be Compounded to remove that chalkiness that occurs. After that you have to follow it up with a good cleaner or swirl remover, There are so many different types on the market these days. Once your done with that you NEED to apply a good coat of wax to it! That is what Reseals the Gel Coat to provide a long lasting shine and help protect against future oxidation. A Gel Coat is almost 10X thicker than a Clear Coat on a car. So, if done correctly you won't burn through it. NOW, If you don't perform general washing after each use to wash off all the salt water the wax won't last! Plain and simple, You need to take care of your Boat just like you take care of anything else you enjoy using all the time. A car is a different story. The Clear Coat in some cases is only 1-2 Coats. So it doesn't take much at all to burn through a cars finish. I have seen cars a few years old already loosing its clear coat and paint beginning to fade due to lack of care. I have also seen some cars 15 years old with a shine that looks brand new from the owners always keeping a coat of wax on them. I personally wax mine at least once a month just to keep them looking there best. You don't have to but every 3 months I recommend, But each person is different. If you want to help hold the value on your Boat, RV, & Auto's, You must maintain the exterior's & interiors! I am also offering other cleaning services as well such as pressure washing pretty much anything you own such as home, piers, decks, patios, etc. Another service I am offering currently is gravestone/headstone cleaning. Loved ones sometimes are unable to manage or clean them, I can restore them back to almost original condition. Please reach out if I can be of assistance.

2019 Tidewater. I didn’t get to take to many pictures of this one unfortunately. I only did from the rub rail down, inside will be completed once the season is over. You can clearly see the amount of oxidation present. It only takes one season of poor maintenance to have a boat look like this. The new owner just purchased the boat way this way. The difference was very impressive!

2012 Seahunt. Three step. Compound, polish & seal. White is one of those colors that you may not be able to tell to much what’s been done but when the customer says it’s amazing and a hell of a difference that’s all that matters!
The boat had bottom paint and graphics with pin striping all over it. The customer removed it all and I brought the finish back to “almost” show room condition. The bottom had light sanding scratches which was removed from heavy grit compounds

34’ Monza completed. Ended up having to compound the hull twice to cut the oxidation and to remove the shadowing effect of the old stickers that were removed by others. The gel coat turned out excellent! 21hrs

This picture shows the difference between compounded, polished and untouched areas. The back of the boat where it says "polished was hit twice with compound then polished. You can see the haze, which is actually surface scratches caused by the compound. The compound cuts deep into the gelcoat to dissipate the oxidation.
Anyone who says they just need to compound and wax will never achieve a "shiny" or wet like look on the gelcoat like you see here. And no wax is applied in this photo.
