I’d like your input on an idea that has been on my mind for a while. I’m calling it the "Supplemental Home Cleaning Service." If you’d prefer to skip the details, feel free to jump to the last paragraph for the main idea.
As a full-time mom who also works and handles housekeeping, I’ve decided it’s time to let go of one of these responsibilities. Unfortunately, hiring a housekeeping service to clean my entire house every other week hasn’t worked out for me. For one, my child quickly returns the house to its original mess, and two, I feel that no one cleans my kitchen the way I do! I often find myself cleaning in between cleanings.
Recently, I’ve been thinking that while I already keep everything as clean as I can, there are a few tasks I would love to delegate. For me, it's the floors and bathrooms—I hate doing those, especially the floors. But I love having them clean, especially since my child loves to roll around on them. I’ve tried hiring someone to just handle those two tasks, but it’s either overpriced or not worthwhile for the company, as cleaning services usually prefer larger jobs and full-service options.
However, I’ve noticed that this could be in demand, even among my in-laws and their friends. They’re older, and since it’s just the two of them in their home, they don’t have much of a mess. Typically, they just want someone to dust or do light bathroom cleaning.
So, what do you think about a cleaning service where you pay a set amount per month and can call in or schedule 2-3 services each month? Someone would come out and handle 2-3 specific housekeeping tasks (depending on the task), without requiring you to pay for a full cleaning twice a month. You’d also get discounted full cleaning services when needed, but the main benefit would be flexibility.
