A husband and wife team have opened up a new cleanup and restoration business in the village of Catskill. SERVPRO is a water and fire restoration remediation cleanup business which handles everything from general cleanups like carpet and duct cleaning to sewage backups, frozen pipes, trauma scenes and heavy-duty cleanups.

“We have a lot of different services,” owner George Collins said. Currently

, Collins has five full-time employees and is looking to possibly hire four additional employees within the next year. “We have really good employees,” he said. “They’re very conscientious and ethical.

“Most of our customers have gone through a traumatic experience, so we try and help them out as best as we can.”

In addition to Greene and Columbia counties, SERVPRO serves the entire Hudson Valley from Oneonta to Great Barrington, MA. In business just over a year, Collins is a licensed civil engineer and was previously employed for the City of New York. Collins, a life-long Saugerties native, says his engineering experience lends itself well to his new business. “It allows me to understand how and why things have occurred, and how to solve the problem. It helps me understand what has happened so I can offer the correct remedy. I enjoy the problem solving part of it.

“This is a great place to work,” Collins said. “It’s such a nice area. We’re building our company, we’ve got excellent employees, and we’re going to build on that. We’re going to be here for a while.
