Warren County is well known for having hard water. While many local water purveyors have begun softening municipal water supplies — and the reduction in calcium levels has certainly made a difference — in most areas, the water still does not qualify as “soft water.”

Pictured here is a 2-inch brass check valve our team recently replaced due to calcium buildup caused by the remaining hardness in the water, even after municipal treatment.

When measuring water hardness:
• 0–6 grains per gallon = soft water
• 7+ grains per gallon = hard water

Your water provider can tell you the hardness level being delivered to your home. If your water measures 7 grains per gallon or higher, you may want to consider installing a water softener to help protect your fixtures, appliances, and plumbing system from mineral buildup like this.

Spring time can also be “root time”. A lot of plants, shrubs, bushes, and tree’s root systems go through major growth spurts in the spring. While that’s good for the trees and plants, it can be bad for pipes. Roots seek water sources and downspout lines can hold water. This is a very common call for us. If you’re downspouts or sump pump lines are clogged, give us a call. We can do anything from drain cleaning to root treatment or total pipe replacement. We had a customer that had multiple leaks in their water lines under the concrete slab of their home. We cut and chipped the floor, ran conduit under the slab, and pulled new lines through the new conduit. If there’s a leak in the future, they won’t have to chip the floor again, we can just pull a new line through the conduit.

This was a little out of the ordinary job for us. The folks at Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad needed a new toilet installed on one of their rail cars. We appreciate the crew at LM&M Railroad for continuing to call us over the years!

Our guys replaced this standard toilet with an ADA approved Toto “Bidet” toilet for an elderly customer of ours who just had surgery. She’s very happy with the new system!

A local senior couple recently reached out with furnace and plumbing issues. Our HEAP department was able to cover the cost of the furnace repair, and we called Pete the Plumber, Inc. to give an estimate on plumbing repair costs, but it turned out that those issues were much more complicated than initially expected. To someone on a fixed income, unexpected large expenses can feel overwhelming.

The owner of Pete the Plumber offered to do some of the work for free; however, after learning more about the couple's situation, this amazing local business generously did the entire job completely free.💙

Our guys were called out to re-work some drain and water piping for a remodel in a slab home. We cut and chipped the concrete, got the piping in the right spot, got it tested and inspected, and poured the concrete back. It’s ready for the new floors.
