Boxelder bugs: harmless… but definitely not welcome.

These black-and-red pests love trees like maple and ash but when temps drop, they start looking for a warm place to crash… aka your house.

They don’t bite or damage your home but they will:
- Gather in huge numbers around windows & siding
- Sneak in through tiny cracks
- Leave stains and odors if crushed

Why are they all over your house?
- They’re drawn to sunny walls (especially south & west facing)
- Fall weather triggers them to move indoors to overwinter

Want fewer of them?
- Seal up cracks & gaps
- Keep leaf litter and debris away from your home
- Treat around windows, doors, and siding

They may not be dangerous but when they show up by the hundreds, it’s a problem.

ZipZap’s got you covered.

🥚 A bedbug egg is about the size of a grain of salt.

At only about 1 millimeter long, bedbug eggs are incredibly difficult to spot with the naked eye. They’re pearly white, slightly elongated, and coated with a sticky substance that helps them adhere to surfaces.

Female bedbugs lay their eggs in protected places close to where people rest, including:
🛏️ Mattress seams
🪵 Bed frames and headboards
🛋️ Furniture joints
🔍 Cracks and crevices

Because the eggs are so small and well hidden, infestations can grow before they’re noticed. That’s why early inspections are one of the most important steps in bedbug control.

Think you may have bedbugs? A professional inspection can help confirm whether they’re present.

🧳🛏️ Vacation memories are great. Bedbugs? Not so much.

Before you settle into your hotel room, take 5 minutes to inspect it. A quick check can save you months of stress, itchy bites, and expensive treatments.

✔️ Check mattress seams and tags
✔️ Inspect the headboard and bed frame
✔️ Look behind nightstands and inside drawers
✔️ Keep luggage off the bed and on a luggage rack
✔️ Check your suitcase before heading home
✔️ Wash and dry travel clothes on high heat after your trip

Bedbugs are expert hitchhikers; they don’t fly or jump, but they can crawl into luggage, backpacks, and clothing.

At ZipZap Termite & Pest Control, we’re here to help keep your home bedbug-free.

🪵 The most destructive pest in your home is often the one you never see.

Eastern subterranean termites live in the soil and feed on materials that contain cellulose, including the structural wood in your home. Because they usually stay hidden inside wood, walls, and mud tubes, damage can continue long before homeowners notice a problem.

That’s why regular termite monitoring and professional protection are so important. Detecting termite activity early can help reduce the risk of extensive structural damage and costly repairs.

Don’t wait until you see the signs; by then, termites may have been active for months or even years.

🐜⚔️ Ants and termites have been battling each other for millions of years.

Many ant species are important predators of termites. When ants discover a termite colony, they’ll often attack and feed on the workers and developing termites.

In response, termites build protective mud tubes, seal off damaged tunnels, and rely on soldier termites to defend the colony.

But don’t count on ants to solve a termite problem.

While ants can kill termites, they rarely eliminate an established colony. If termites are active in or around your home, a professional inspection is the best way to protect your property.

🪳 The best roach control starts with a bait they’ll eat.

Vanecto™ Cockroach Gel Bait is designed to be consumed by cockroaches. Once they feed on the bait, the active ingredient, isocycloseram, affects their nervous system. As exposed cockroaches interact with others in the population, secondary transfer helps extend the bait’s impact to more of the hidden infestation.

That’s why professional baiting can be so effective; it targets cockroaches where they live, not just the ones you see.

If you’re seeing roaches, there’s a good chance there are many more hiding out of sight.

💧 One week can make a big difference.

Mosquitoes need standing water to complete their life cycle. During warm weather, many species can develop from egg to adult in about one to two weeks, depending on the species and environmental conditions.

That’s why one of the simplest ways to reduce mosquitoes around your home is to empty standing water at least once a week.

Check places like:
🪣 Buckets
🌼 Flowerpot saucers
🧸 Children’s toys
🐦 Birdbaths
🚜 Wheelbarrows
🏠 Clogged gutters

Eliminating standing water helps interrupt the mosquito life cycle before new adults emerge. Pair that with professional mosquito treatments, and you can enjoy your yard with fewer mosquitoes all season long.

100 Legs. 0 Chill. 100% Uninvited.

Seeing a centipede inside your home can be startling but it’s also a clue.

House centipedes are predators that feed on insects like ants, cockroaches, silverfish, spiders, and other household pests. If one is hanging around, it may have found a reliable food source.

The best way to keep centipedes out is to make your home less inviting:

💧 Reduce moisture in basements, bathrooms, and crawl spaces.
🚪 Seal cracks, gaps, and other entry points.
📦 Eliminate clutter where they can hide.
🪵 Keep mulch, leaves, and firewood away from your foundation.
🐜 Control the insects they’re hunting.

A dry, clean, well-sealed home is one of the best defenses against centipedes.

🧙‍♂️ At ZipZap Termite & Pest Control, we don’t just treat the pest you see; we help identify and address the conditions attracting them in the first place.

🏚️ Think your home is solid?

Subterranean termites don’t kick in the front door, they quietly tunnel underground and start feeding on your home from the inside out.

Here are 3 facts every homeowner should know:

🐜 Colonies can contain up to 2 million termites.
One colony can forage across a large area in search of food.

🌎 They travel through underground tunnels.
Mud tubes and soil tunnels protect termites from drying out while they move between the colony and your home.

🪵 They feed on cellulose 24/7.
That means they can cause extensive structural damage before you ever notice a problem.

By the time you see visible signs, termites may have been active for months or even years.

🧙‍♂️ At ZipZap Termite & Pest Control, we make termites disappear! Our thorough inspections, proven treatment methods, and long-term protection help keep your biggest investment safe.
