Q: I think I have a rodent problem, how do I know and what do I do?

A: There are a few things we need to address regarding rodent issues.
1. If you have a problem with rodents, is it a new issue or an ongoing problem?
2. What kind of damage has been done by the rodents?
3. What kind of rodents do you have?
4. Why are you having the rodent problem?
5. Where is the food source, moisture source, possible harborage, point of entries and path of travel?
6. What needs to be changed in the environment to fix the problem?
7. What type of approach do we need to take to control or eliminate the problem?
8. What types of devices, rodenticides or traps do we need to use?
9. What kind of restrictions or limitations do we have?
A: Some of the more serious diseases that rodents can pass to humans include:
• Hantavirus - a respiratory disease that can be fatal.
• Leptospirosis - a bacterial disease that can lead to kidney and liver problems, respiratory problems, and even death if left untreated.
• Rat-Bite Fever - a bacterial disease that can be fatal if untreated.
• Salmonellosis - a bacterial infection that usually runs it course in about a week. However, it can be much more serious in some people, leading to hospitalization and even death.

Tired of Scorpions? Want more information and tips about scorpions? I hope this helps...

Pest control and landscaping goes hand in hand. We need to address their food source, moisture source, harborage, path of travel and point of entry in order to get control. Apply the proper pesticides around the property for maintenance.

Bark scorpions are venomous and most people are allergic to their venom. They are nocturnal but sometimes seen during the day which is a sign of over population. In most housing communities, scorpions are a neighborhood problem and rarely specific to one house.

None chemical part of the treatment: We ask that all bushes are 18”-24” away from structures like the exterior walls of the house and the block wall that separates you and your neighbors. We also ask that the bushes be trimmed 12” above ground and we must be able to see the trunk of the bushes.

Another none chemical part of the treatment is sealing up the primary entry points of scorpions and other insects into your home such as the weep holes, weep sill, threshold at the bottom of the door and all wall penetrations via pipes, AC, plumbing and electrical around the home.

Part of our scorpion program is our twice a year extraction treatment where we run a blacklight throughout the entire property and physically hunt and remove them which is the best and most aggressive way to reduce the population.

Lastly is addressing their food and path of travel: their primary food source are soft bodied insects such as spiders and crickets. By eliminating the food source and treating the perimeter chemically on a monthly basis, we are reducing the population on the property.

Please feel free to share and call me if you have any questions or concerns. 702-358-3204 is my direct phone number. you can also visit us at www.paulsextermination.com

Pest control treatment for your home

Pest control treatment for each home should be different for each property and should be customized for that particular home. There are a few things I put into consideration when I treat a home for pest control:
• Determine and identify what kind of insect problem the customer is experiencing.
• Put into consideration what other insects are more than likely to be in the property based on their property location.
• Address the “5 Factors”
• Food source
• Moisture source
• Possible harborage
• Path of travel
• Point of entry
• Determine a plan of action and what pesticide will be used for the treatment.
Pest control is not rocket science, but we do have to know certain things and know how to use pesticides according to the label. We also have to know which pesticide to use for each specific problem to get the best result. And most importantly, we must be responsible with the pesticides we use to ensure that every safety precaution is taken to keep us and our customers safe from harm.
