5 YEARS. 🥹💙
October 3rd officially marked 5 years since I started A Fresh Start Cleaning Services.
And if I’m being completely real, these 5 years have been nothing like I imagined.
I started this business because I knew I was good at cleaning, I loved helping people, and I wanted to build something of my own.
What I did NOT know was how hard running a business actually was. 😂
I had no clue how to hire, train, manage employees, price jobs, handle payroll, create systems, market a business, deal with complaints, or keep everything moving when 10 things were going wrong at once.
I learned a lot of it by screwing it up first.
I’ve underpriced jobs, kept employees longer than I should have, trusted people I probably shouldn’t have, taken on too much, said yes when I should have said no, and tried way too hard to keep everybody happy.
I’ve had employees quit, clients leave, jobs go wrong, and plenty of days where I seriously questioned whether I even wanted to do this anymore.
I’ve cried over this business, lost sleep over it, worked exhausted, stressed, overwhelmed, short staffed, and completely over it.
And somehow… I kept going.
Over the years I’ve built a team, rebuilt the team 😂, changed systems, changed pricing, changed training, and had to admit more than once that something I was doing just wasn’t working.
Because one thing I’ve learned is sometimes, as the owner, you are the problem. 😂
But somewhere in the middle of all that chaos, this little cleaning business became a REAL business.
We’ve cleaned hundreds of homes, built amazing relationships with clients, taken on vacation rentals and commercial properties, partnered with Cleaning for a Reason, and helped people during some really difficult seasons of their lives.
I’m not going to pretend everything is perfect now.
It isn’t.
I’m still learning how to be a better boss, build better systems, delegate more, and actually run the business instead of letting the business run me.
And yes… some days are still an absolute s**t show. 😂
But I can look back now and genuinely be proud.
Not because everything went right.
A LOT of things went wrong.
We’re still here because I learned, adjusted, got back up, and kept going.
To every client who has trusted us, referred us, supported us, left reviews, and continued choosing us year after year — thank you.
And to every employee who has been part of this company along the way, whether you’re still here or your path took you somewhere else — you helped build this too.
Five years ago, I had cleaning supplies, determination, and absolutely no clue what I was getting myself into.
Today, I have a company, a team, clients I genuinely care about, and a much bigger vision for where A Fresh Start is going.
I’m nowhere near finished.
Honestly, I feel like we’re just getting started.
