It’s been one week since my announcement to return back into the swimming pool industry! I do not take this lightly. I know how we succeeded, I know the challenges, I know how we learned to use proper materials and techniques to build the best pools around! The concept was artistic designs complementing natural topography, quality, cleanliness, and timely completions, not necessarily price wars! It’s been 12 years since I’ve built a pool. I know there are better products to even further my exploration and learning!

It is also very humbling to receive the amazing outreach from people who remember Falling Water Custom Pools, Inc. and our many accomplishments! Out of nowhere, most likely the biggest opportunity in my life was received over a simple text, from a very special person! It’s time to listen, learn, and grow! Let’s GO!

Big announcement coming soon!

I’m still trying to hack into an old computer. I’ve got a buddy looking for old Dell computer power cables. There’s some really cool projects I would like to share. I forgot about this project we visited in Wrightsville Beach last year. It is a very private residence, and access was basically a impossible. Luckily, when we arrive, the house was under complete remodel with a new homeowner and I was able to show my son this project from 2006!

The pool deck that I’m standing on is 14 foot above sea level. You can walk under the pool deck. The entire pool is sitting on pylons driven into the sand, approximately 20 feet or so. Crazy project!

I have already been asked…. Why? Too many times.

Here’s the explanation as short as possible. At the end of Falling Water Pools, I spent 22 years learning, fixing, training (employees leave/start businesses/fail), more training, etc.

I was helping a friend seal a pool deck last week and witnessed the same heart wrenching mistakes on a high-end newer pool (5-7 years old) that never seems to change in this industry.

I tried and tried to warn new clients of the dangers of spending a ton of money on amazing project concepts and choose a builder based on slick ads and a slicker salesman for a few thousand dollars less (without bashing). Then, 5 days ago I’m staring at it again!

1. Undersized pumping! You can’t fix this later! Your pumps shouldn’t be this loud! Read the hydraulic and sizing page in the manual! It’s not 1995!
2. Pool plaster above the waterline! Yes, beach entries are cool, but the “white crap” is efflorescence and it’s not coming off your dark pool plaster. A nice complimentary stone transition is the best method, but it does cost more.
3. If you’re going to build a natural water feature, spend the time and effort and place rocks under the waterline! Make it look natural! The goal is to make something unnatural and man made, look natural!

Thats enough for now….

My thoughts…. If I can be very selective to build the best, with the best customers, and make the project enjoyable and clean for all parties involved, I’ll do it! You can’t do this building 50-100 pools a year (believe me). My goal is 2-4 pools a year, for now!

I still want to run my sawmill, build epoxy tables, feed my cows and chickens, and hopefully see the brewery return in some fashion, if our legislators can make it affordable!

If you are a trade and this sounds interesting, we need to talk! I definitely need to find exceptional electricians (willing to do pools), HVAC, plumbers, etc.

I hope to break into an old computer or IPad and find the professional photos of this pool from around 2011. The grade from the house to the end of the pool was 16’ of elevation drop, I believe. It was a three-tier pool including a swim up bar, kegerator, outdoor kitchen with 2-tier floating stone table which spilled into the vanishing edge trough, etc. the customer got into some trouble with the FBI, but that’s how some of these jobs went! I found these photos on Houzz and I’m pretty sure it was one of their highest rated pools for a long time.
