💪 Now THIS is what it takes to get the job done right! 🦊

When it comes to commercial air duct cleaning, sometimes you have to go above and beyond — and in this case, that meant our Greenfox crew literally climbing INSIDE the ductwork of a hotel ballroom!

Our technicians worked their way through this massive duct system to ensure a thorough cleaning, following NADCA standards and maintaining proper safety procedures throughout the process.

🥵 Did we mention there was NO AIR CONDITIONING running? Our guys were suited up in full Tyvek protective suits, working inside the ductwork in extremely hot conditions.

It’s not glamorous work, and it’s definitely not easy. But it’s the kind of dedication, attention to detail, and hard work that separates a professional duct cleaning from simply going through the motions.

👏 Huge shoutout to our crew for pushing through the challenging conditions while keeping safety and quality a priority!

At Greenfox Air Quality, we don’t cut corners. We clean them! 🦊💚

Dust doesn’t always come loose on its own! 💨

In this video, we’re using a nylon brush to loosen dust and debris clinging to the inside of the ductwork so our vacuum collection system can remove it.

Choosing the right brush is critical. An overly abrasive brush can damage ductwork—especially the inner liner of flexible ducts. The brush and technique must be appropriate for the material being cleaned.

Brushing is only one step in the complete duct cleaning process, but it’s an important one—especially for removing built-up dust. Loosening that dust and collecting it work together to get the job done properly. 🦊

🏨 Big Buildings. Big Ductwork. The Green Fox Way. 🦊

Commercial duct cleaning takes more than a vacuum and a ladder.

Our Green Fox Air Quality crew took to the ceiling of a hotel ballroom, using scissor lifts, specialized equipment, and hands-on mechanical cleaning to access and clean hard-to-reach HVAC ductwork.

From high ceilings to complex commercial duct systems, our team has the equipment, training, and experience to tackle projects of this scale.

💨 Why does commercial duct cleaning matter?

✅ Removes accumulated dust and debris from HVAC systems

✅ Helps maintain cleaner air distribution throughout the building

✅ Supports HVAC system cleanliness and performance

✅ Addresses areas often overlooked during routine maintenance

At Green Fox Air Quality, we follow NADCA-aligned cleaning practices because proper duct cleaning means cleaning the system, not just the vents.

Residential. Commercial. Industrial. We put the Green in Indoor Environmental Health. 🌿

Leadership comes in many forms… sometimes it’s just laying in the attic telling the crew they’re doing great. 😂

Work smarter, motivate harder. 💪🦊

🚨 Did Your Duct Cleaning Company Actually Clean Your Distribution Boxes?

Most homeowners never see their distribution boxes, and unfortunately, many duct cleaning companies miss them completely.

A distribution box is where airflow is divided and sent into multiple duct runs throughout your home. Because these boxes sit between the main supply duct and your individual branches, they can collect dust, debris, buildup, and microbial growth over time.

Here’s the problem:

If a company cleans the registers and runs a brush or air whip through the accessible duct runs—but never properly accesses and cleans the distribution boxes—they may be leaving a major part of the HVAC system untouched.

At Green Fox Air Quality, we believe duct cleaning should mean cleaning the system, not just what’s easy to reach.

🔍 Ask your duct cleaning company:

“Did you inspect and clean my distribution boxes?”

If they don’t know what you’re talking about… that might tell you everything you need to know.

☀️ Why We Prefer Double-Bulb UV Protection in an Air Handler

If you’re installing UV to help control microbial growth inside your HVAC system, placement matters just as much as having the UV light.

A double-bulb setup allows us to target two of the most important areas inside the air handler: the evaporator coil and the blower wheel/compartment.

💧 The Coil
The evaporator coil stays cool and regularly gets wet from condensation. That combination of moisture and organic buildup can create favorable conditions for microbial growth. Continuous UV-C exposure helps keep the coil and surrounding surfaces cleaner between HVAC services.

💨 The Blower Wheel
The blower moves air through your entire HVAC system. Dust and debris can accumulate on the wheel and nearby surfaces over time. A properly positioned second UV-C bulb helps control microbial growth in this area instead of protecting only the coil.

Why two bulbs? Because UV-C works primarily through line-of-sight exposure. One bulb aimed at the coil may not adequately expose the blower compartment. Using two properly positioned bulbs gives you better coverage of the areas most susceptible to buildup.

UV isn’t a substitute for proper humidity control, filtration, HVAC maintenance, or correcting moisture problems—but it can be a great preventative tool when installed correctly.

🔍 This is why you have to find the cause—not just clean the mold.

In this video, Luke shows visible mold growth developing on the mastic on the exterior of the ductwork. But the real problem starts on the inside.

Small gaps around the duct collars can allow air leakage and create a temperature differential between the cold conditioned air inside the duct and the warm, humid attic air outside. When the exterior surface reaches the dew point, condensation can form, creating the moisture conditions that support microbial growth.

🛠️ Luke demonstrates how we address the issue by applying mesh tape and mastic around the inside of the flex connection, helping create a properly sealed connection and reduce air leakage.

At Green Fox Air Quality, we don’t want to simply wipe away what’s visible. We look for the conditions causing the problem and address them at the source.

BEFORE & AFTER 🏠💦

It’s not just AC leaks that can damage the drywall surrounding your HVAC system.

While a clogged drain line, overflowing drain pan, or other water leak can absolutely cause drywall damage, condensation can create problems too.

In this garage, the air conditioner was positioned extremely close to the surrounding walls. Here in South Florida, garages can become extremely hot and humid. When that warm, moisture-filled air comes into contact with cold HVAC equipment and surfaces, condensation can form. With limited space between the unit and drywall, that moisture can repeatedly affect the surrounding building materials.

Over time, moisture from leaks OR condensation can lead to staining, deteriorated drywall, peeling paint, musty odors, and conditions that may support microbial growth.

The before-and-after photos show just how much of a difference properly addressing the affected area can make.

Seeing moisture, staining, or damaged drywall around your AC? Give Green Fox Air Quality a call. 🦊

Out of sight shouldn’t mean out of mind when it comes to your HVAC system. Dirty evaporator coils, standing water in drain pans, and mold buildup inside ductwork don’t just reduce system efficiency—they circulate pollutants and moisture throughout your home, leading to severe drywall damage and poor indoor air quality.

Warning Signs Your System Needs Attention

- Musty Odors: A persistent stale or moldy smell when the AC kicks on.

- Standing Water: Moisture pooling around your indoor unit or overflowing drain pans.

- Visible Growth: Dark spots appearing around air vents, drywall, or near the air handler.

- Spike in Energy Bills: Dirty coils force your system to work twice as hard to cool your space.

Don’t wait for a small leak or buildup to turn into an expensive repair. Schedule a professional HVAC inspection and coil cleaning today to keep your air fresh and your system running smoothly! 🛠️✨
