To my friends and family in the path of the storm, this is a copy from a couple of years ago on my personal Facebook

To all my friends in the face of whatever this storm is about to be…
Prepare.
I rode this thing out for Michael, my house came down around me..but we lived.
That’s all I can say.
After Hurricane Michael, so many people struggled just to get by because so many OTHER people had to be glutinous.
Read carefully.
There will be no gas. Get it now. Get enough for a week of generator (if not 2) and a full tank in every car you own. You will need it.
You DONT NEED ALL THE GAS.
Leave some!
Get firewood. You will have no electricity so now way to cook. Also Get propane if you have a propane grill.
Get water. And not bottles, get gallon jugs, culligan jugs, fill your tub, etc. there will be plenty of bottled water after the storm, you will need other sources for washing, bathing, flushing etc.
Get an at&t or t-mobile prepaid for after the storm. Do not wait. Get this now so you have direct contact after the storm.
Get plenty of non perishable food.
Get baby wipes, bleach, chlorine tabs, hand sanitizer, bug spray, sunscreen. You will need all of this should this storm wipe out power. It’s hot and sticky, you will be miserable. These items will help to make it a little less so.
If you have a generator get oil. They will not run without it.
Chainsaw. This is a must have. Trees (yes TREES) will fall, and they will be big. A rake will not do the job.
Help your neighbors. But don’t disclose what you have in supplies. People get desperate.
Protect yourself. In times like this people do stupid, desperate things. You will need to have some form of protection for you and your family.
Get pet food. They are important too. Also write your number & pets name in sharpie on their underbelly. In case of separation.
Fill your washing machine with ice & your dishwasher with important paperwork. The washing machine will hold water/ice so you can keep things cold/have water for after the storm flushing etc. the dishwasher is water tight so your documents will be protected. Do this now so you don’t lose a bunch of stuff.
Expect traffic after the storm. A drive that would have taken 10 minutes will now take hours. Bring supplies for the day when you leave & use the curfew to your advantage. You don’t have the time or gas for extra trips.
Have people outside of the storm know your location EXACTLY & stay in contact with them.
You will know who your people are. The realest will be there without question within days to help and bring supplies. Know that. Know that you have people that are coming and do not worry. Whether it’s family or stranger, we’re in this together.
Take before & after photos. Of EVERYTHING. You will be amazed at what your yard/street/neighborhood looks like after. Document everything. Get a journal.
Most of all, keep a cool, level head. You will be anxious, scared, shocked. But do not let it get the better of you. This too shall pass.
