Josh saw the blood stains on his bed when he woke up that Saturday morning. It didn’t bother him at all. His girlfriend was coming that evening; that was all that mattered. They had been dating for about a year but the relationship has been suffering lately. He felt Emily had been avoiding him for some time now. Was she seeing someone else or was she getting pressured at work?

Their relationship had started slow but it was promising, an envy of their friends. They had even met their parents. Now, it was almost in shambles, he didn’t know if she would come today, she hadn’t shown up since last Tuesday. So as he made his bed, he noticed more blood stains. Why were there a lot of stains, where did they come from? He didn’t think about it too much, he had to get to the store to get some groceries.

He made dinner and waited. Emily came. Dinner was fun and the night continued with wine in bed. As they conversed, Emily felt three stings on her laps. She jumped off from the bed quickly. On her lap were two bedbugs, big and engorged with blood. She pushed them off and started wearing her clothes.
