This year has been a weird one. Mole activity is popping up later in the season...just when we thought we were done with the pesky buggers until next spring. Especially with the spots of rain, you may be finding yourself with some unwanted outdoor pets.

Give us a call, we'll come diagnose the problem and send them packing. Our well marked traps are safe for your children and pets.

No mole holes, no problems, right?

NOPE. Ever heard of soft spots? And no, we don't mean the cute ones on babies heads. You already know that moles live and tunnel underground. During the winter, they stay pretty deep (up to 3 1/2 feet in fact). But during the summer, they come up towards the surface to bask in the summer warmth. Sometimes, they don't break ground, which means no tell-tale mole holes.

So why can't we just let them be? We all need a little Vitamin D. No mole holes, no problem.

Because their excessive tunneling to the surface has created soft spots in your lawn, which will eventually collapse when any pressure is placed on top. Pressure such as a lawn mower, a croquet mallet, a prancing puppy, even a child's footstep can cause these spots to cave in, causing potential injury.

If you have had mole problems in the past or have found soft spots in your lawn, give us a call. We'll help make sure your lawn is safe for all your summer fun.

POP QUIZ: How deep can this Freddy Krueger clawed fellow actually dig?

A. While the mounds in your lawn may only be a few inches high, these diggers can actually be up to 40" underground. To put that in perspective, that's about as tall as a hightop bar table. Or a 4 year old child. Plus, these suckers are speedy too! They can cover 15 feet of ground in about an hour. And they love popping up to see what's going on above ground, causing more mounds and damage to your grass and roots while they sightsee, looking for snacks.

At the first sign of damage, give us a call. Otherwise, you'll end up with more holes than Nightmare on Elm Street spin offs.
