While Canada Geese are pairing up and getting frisky, these two are on 24 watch to make sure the new geese families DO NOT try to move onto our client’s property. Imagine the disappointment these four geese experienced when Alex showed up and encouraged them to find another place to stay! Please note, the geese left while the Border Collie was still yards away. This is why PETA and the Humane society endorse the use of Border Collies to manage Canada Geese.

Made our second visit of the day to our client’s property in Fairview. Seems a pair of Canada Geese were looking for a nice place to nest. So, it was off to work for my female Border Collie, Alex. Besides being trained to do the job, the way Alex and all Borders stalk the geese with their heads down, rear ends up and tails between their legs, all the geese see is the profile of a predator. The dogs also use their “Border Collie Eye” or stare to intimidate the geese. Usually safe from predators when in the water, you can see here the geese want no part of this encounter and FLY AWAY! Alex-2, Geese-Goose egg! (Sorry)

These two cannot wait to get out of the truck and chase a few geese. It is that time of year, again. Canada Geese are getting active and have started to look for places to build their newest, lay some eggs and hatch some goslings, all while taking over YOUR PROPERTY.
