Inland Floodwater Mosquito (Aedes vexans) Mosquito life cycle from egg to adult. Mosquitoes that rely on rising water are collectively known as floodwater mosquitoes. Instead of laying eggs directly on the water, females deposit them on damp soil, in low-lying depressions, or on the inner walls of containers. The eggs remain dormant until rising water from heavy rains or tides submerges them, prompting them to hatch.

Big thanks to Dr. Bob Davis, research & development with BASF, and Doug Gibbs with BASF for coming out and conducting a hands on termite training session with our team today.
Dr. Bob Davis is an intricate part of the leading research and development team responsible for two of the best products available to treat for termites- Termidor and Trelona termite baiting system.
Here at Hixon’s Pest Control we routinely implement both products to ensure the best possible outcomes when dealing with Formosan Termites. It was a great experience to have Dr. Davis on hand to get his insights on different treatment techniques.

Since founding Hixon's Pest Control in 2004, Byron has built a locally owned and operated family business dedicated to protecting homes and businesses throughout Southwest Louisiana. Guided by the company motto, "Providing service beyond your expectations," Byron and his team have spent more than two decades earning the trust of customers through reliable service and a commitment to excellence.

As a first-year BBB board member, Byron was inspired to get involved because he believes in the important role BBB plays in supporting both consumers and businesses. To him, BBB's mission promotes honesty, transparency, and strong work ethics—values that are essential to building trust within the community.

Byron believes ethical business practices create confidence, strengthen relationships, and help communities grow. His philosophy is simple: treat customers the way you would want to be treated.

Beyond his work with BBB SWLA, Byron serves as President of the Southwest Louisiana Pest Control Association and as a board member of the Louisiana Pest Management Association. He also gives back to the community through his involvement with Krewe du Sauvage.

Outside of work, Byron enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He credits much of his success to his wife, Jennifer, whom he describes as "the heartbeat of our home and work."

If you live in SW Louisiana you should know that preventative termite treatments are far better than waiting until you have termite damage in your home. Unfortunately this home had not been treated for some time and has endured a significant amount of damage from Formosan termites. A curative treatment is now underway working in conjunction with a construction contractor.
