over the years, i've been quite lenient with late payments, unless someone was a repeat offender.
we all know the drill. if your invoice is not paid on or by the due date or before i get to your home during that billing cycle, you get skipped and get an email stating why.

i manually send reminders on the due date from my personal phone number, which is time consuming but many people ignore the billing number as it is an 888 number— so that's understandable.

the text message was seen, the skipped service email was seen, and the deteriorating condition of the pool is seen every time someone steps outside.

late invoices are fine, so long as we communicate. going through a hard time financially? that's okay. let me know and tell me when you can pay and all is well. your secret is safe with me. having some other issue temporarily, that's all good as well. just let me know and let me know when you'll submit your payment.

ignore all correspondence? possibly ask why i didn't show up? no no, we both know. we both see the red on the invoice.

unfortunately, i'm cracking down heavily.
if your invoice is overdue and it's been 7 days since i've heard from you, your service is permanently terminated.
this is my lifeline. it's how i pay all of my bills and feed myself. if you can not meet your end of the deal in a timely manner or communicate a delay, i must replace you with someone who can.

it's nothing personal, it's business regardless of how friendly we have become. i must keep my lights on and food on my table, i can not allow a friendly business relationship to interfere with that.

to all that i've recently sent on their way: it's all love and i wish you the best.. but i've got to go.

the pool industry in a few sentences:

chemical manufacturers: "over the last year, we've increased our prices by 17%!"

equipment manufacturers: "over the last year, we've increased our prices by 13%.. then 14% a few months later!"

anyone who has to purchase these items: "y'all RELAX!!"

equipment manufacturers: "yeah you're right.. you know what, people are getting laid off, the price of everything in general has increased lately.. you know what we should do? INCREASE OUR PRICES BY ANOTHER 13% IN OCTOBER 2026 🤩"

at what point is the industry going to realize that they're beginning to make even the most wealthy purchasers of their products raise their eyebrows at prices?

pieces of equipment that were $1100-$1400 1-2 years ago are pushing $2000-$2300 now. some chemicals that were $86 per gallon a year ago are $137+ per gallon now. that sure doesn't sound like 17% to me, chemical guys.

wake up guys, you're digging your own grave. the more you increase, the less you sell. then you have to increase again, thus you sell less again. it's a deadly cycle.

another one for Fresh Face Friday. the Purperas went from green & black algae to perfectly white and blindingly clear in a few weeks. this one fought me hard, but i finally got it to settle down ✨

my absolute favorite type of client—
tells the often heard story of the 3 pool companies they've tried over the last year and the best any of them could get the pool to look was how it was in the first picture.

apparently the other guys couldn't even get it to be any form of blue. blue and cloudy? understandable, you almost had it but you may not be aware of some specialty chemicals and/or pool secrets.
always green? no no. you've got a little more to learn.
initially i thought to myself that the pool may have an underlying issue and was concerned that i wouldn't be able to get it clean and clear.

they say i'm priced a little higher than everyone else but have nothing else to loose and tell me to give it a shot.

i used to explain why my rate was slightly higher than everyone else. i tried to sell and justify my services to new or potential clients.
now, i only tell them their rate, what's included in my services, when and how often i will come to their home, what happens if i can't make it, and what correspondence they receive from me weekly and monthly.. i do my job and let the pool talk for me.

the first picture was taken right before i left this client's house last week. the second picture was taken today, 1 week later. the client told me Monday that the pool looked perfect.. i'm here on Fridays 😏

another satisfied client who is happy to see me every week has hopped on my route 🤩 it may be my job, but it's nice to see and hear that the Lamothes are happy with my work.

side note: if your pool has an unaddressed issue or i give you instructions to follow in-between visits and they are not followed.. your pool most likely WILL NOT do this. some pools require help in addition to me to get back on track.

**the pool currently has a slight haze from a chemical dose that was put in it today**

how it started vs how it's goin' 😎

the pecan trees haven't even started their war yet— the dirty pictures taken today will look clean compared to how it will be when i show up in the cooler months.
this pool will have two 5 GALLON BAGS full of leaves in it.. when i leave, its like the trees don't even exist (briefly, literally just long enough for me to run around and take pictures for the service email😅).

the love/ hate relationship i have with this pool is mesmerizingly toxic and i hope i care for this pool until i die.

per usual, the Prouts get to kick the weekend off by waking up to a gorgeous, sanitary, and safe pool ☀️

side note: yes the water is a little hazy.. phosphate remover 🙄 it'll be crystal clear in 2 hours
