Even with a long term coating, contaminates can stick the coating, making it seem like the coating is failing. In this instance, using a chemical Water Spot Remover unclogged the coating and brought it back to life.

The door on the right of the video had the Water Spot Remover applied, while the door on the left had not yet. The behavior of the water is the best test to see how well a coating is working. The water on the right door fell off almost immediately, while the door on the left took a little longer.

The coating makes the car stay cleaner for longer, hence the self cleaning term you see on coating marketing.
