The founding of Pool & Callahan in 2014 reflects a collaborative effort by native Texans Robert Pool and David Callahan to provide an exclusive array of fine artisan-made home furnishings and uncommon finds for sophisticated homes and corporate environments. Filling the void between oftentimes predictable antiques and collectible shops and ultra-modern urban design offerings, Pool and Callahan sho
wcases finely crafted furniture in addition to a selective collection of vintage and antique finds ranging in style from classic European to mid-century and industrial. Vigilant in their commitment as “Purveyors of the Uncommon," Robert and David are equally passionate about providing the ultimate in customer service. Originally from San Antonio, David carved out an entrepreneurial niche early in his career, specializing in sales and service industries that included telecommunications and various aspects of entertainment for corporate and private events. Seeking a more suitable place to raise his young daughter, David relocated his family to Kingsland in 2001 and became a successful business owner. Robert began honing his skills as a naturally gifted artisan at a young age in the small communities along Galveston Bay where he became adept at sign painting, classic car restoration and customization of racing boats and fine yachts. Developing a deeper interest in woodworking and architecture, he established a furniture design studio on the northshore of New Orleans in 1998. In 2008, Robert and wife Martha moved to Kingsland where the artisan re-established his studio. The two business owners became friends and soon discovered a mutual interest to bring a truly 'uncommon' shopping experience to the Texas Hill Country.
