So what is it about Zack Attack Services that makes them a Community Changemaker? Zack and David also give back to the community. Last year, they saw areas on the historic buildings in downtown Burnet Square that needed cleaning and some attention. They carefully power washed affected buildings, completing the job when the shops were closed to ensure they did not disrupt foot traffic and shoppers in and out of the stores and restaurants. “We don’t live in Burnet but we enjoy the Square, we enjoy the shops and go to the restaurants there. We saw a need and decided to make it happen. We didn’t do it for credit. We did it to give back to an area of our greater community that we and others enjoy, “ said Zack.

Zack and David saw another need while out driving between their jobs. “A car was on the side of the road and the tire was jacked. They just hit a dead deer on the highway. So we picked the deer up and moved it safely off the road into the high grass,” said Zack. "Both the dead animals and the trash need to be in their proper space otherwise it creates a safety hazard in a number of ways,” said David. "It’s a necessary thing that I guess some people don’t think about but we do… so we do something about it,” said Zack. “It takes like, a second, to do this and it’s just the right thing to do,” says David. “We live here, we love living here… it’s how we contribute.”

And that attitude and generosity of spirit and community service is why Zack Attack Services - Zachary Helm and David Frutiger - are our Community Changemakers of the week!

This week, we continue our Member Spotlight: Community Changemakers series... with Zack Attack Services ! When you think of Community Changemarkers, most immediately think of our local nonprofits, service organizations, and community organizers. However, Zack Attack Services is a local business quietly serving their community in ways that are often unnoticed… but are the very services that would be noticed if Zachary (Zack) Helm and David Frutiger, owners of Zack Attack Services didn’t show up.

Zack Helm knew he was going to start and run his own company. He knew it was going to be community-service oriented. And it all came together for him during his service in the Navy. “I got started with pressure washing when I was in the Navy. It was my job to make sure the buildings and sidewalks were clean. It was then that I fell in love with keeping my community clean and decided to start my own company doing exactly that!” said Zack when asked about where the idea for Zack Attack Services came about.

David joined Zack’s life and business and they expanded their services to include commercial cleaning services, residential cleaning, and deep cleans for businesses, large commercial properties, and residences. They quickly became the go-to company in Kingsland and started expanded their service area into the greater Hill Country area.
