🚫 A Common Cleaning Mistake That Causes Damage

White vinegar is one of the most commonly misused cleaning products.

It’s often labeled as “natural” and “safe,” but that doesn’t mean it’s safe for every surface.

❌ Vinegar can damage:
• Natural stone (marble, granite, travertine, limestone)
• Grout over time
• Stone showers and countertops
• Sealed surfaces once the sealant begins to wear

⚠️ What happens:
• Etching (dull, chalky spots that cannot be cleaned away)
• Breakdown of sealers
• Weakened grout
• Permanent surface damage

🦠 Important to know:
Vinegar has mild antibacterial properties, meaning it can reduce some bacteria in limited situations.
However, it is not a disinfectant. It does not kill a broad range of bacteria or viruses, does not meet EPA disinfection standards, and should not be relied on to sanitize surfaces.

✅ Safer options:
• pH-neutral cleaners for stone
• Stone-safe daily cleaners
• Properly diluted dish soap for maintenance
• Products made specifically for the surface you’re cleaning

Vinegar isn’t “bad” it’s just not universal.
