Gutter debris tells a tale. The change in type of debris and its age let's me know approximately when the gutters were last cleaned, which trees were the problem and how well the downspouts are working. In this pic you can see new debris blending into old debris as it leads to the downspout (bottom right corner). The gradual build-up of debris as it leads to the downspout tells me the gutter is angled correctly and the downspout is allowing water through. However, there's so much debris that the downspout can't empty it all. That's when the system gets backed up and the downspouts get clogged. And then that's when you call us😁

Signs of a clogged downspout: Arrow #1 shows signs of overflow stains. Arrow #2 shows debris accumulation at the connection point of the gutter and the downspout. After disassembling the downspout I found the elbow completely packed with debris. I cleaned it out and reassembled everything. Then I conducted an airflow test to make absolutely certain the entire downspout was clear.

Completely clogged downspout. That look says it all. 🫨 But it's all clear now so no worries.

That pile of nasty debris sitting there had completely clogged this downspout. After using a drain auger I finally broke it free. The noise you hear and the grass blowing is from my vacuum. Not only do we clear the downspouts, we also do an air test to be absolutely sure it's completely clear.

Coated in crusty tree flower petals. This was a first for me.
