Storm in the Gulf? Don't Drain Your Pool.
With tropical weather in the Gulf, here's one pool-prep mistake homeowners should avoid: don't drain your inground pool in preparation for heavy rain.
Your pool is designed to hold water, and removing that weight when the ground becomes saturated can create serious problems.
Before severe weather:
• Remove loose furniture, toys, umbrellas and other items from around the pool area — don't throw them into the pool.
• Make sure pool chemicals are securely stored somewhere dry and protected from water.
• Keep an eye on the forecast and follow local emergency guidance as conditions develop.
