If you haven’t audited your commercial cleaning vendor's Scope of Work (SOW) in the last 6 months, there’s a high probability you’re paying for tasks that aren't getting done.

What starts as a meticulous cleanup on Month 1 often degrades into a quick surface sweep by Month 6 if no one is checking the scorecard.

Here are 3 practical ways Facilities Managers can audit their cleaning crew without spending hours on site:

1. Conduct a "Morning-After" Walkthrough:
Inspect the facility before employees arrive, but after the night crew finishes. Look for telltale signs of shortcuts: trash left inside bins, unreplenished paper products, or ignored high-dusting areas.

2. Verify Time-on-Site:
Check your electronic access logs or security video occasionally. If a solo cleaner enters at 8:00 PM and leaves at 8:15 PM, you aren't getting the coverage you contracted for.
