With everything we have experienced for as long as I have been in business there are times when I do something for a reason and times where I don’t do something for a reason.

This is a great example of why we don’t do something for a reason.
Unscrewing separate pieces of silver is something that we have never felt comfortable with doing. Why? You may ask. Over the years we have seen countless times where people have used so much torque with a screwdriver that it strips, the female or male attachments of a screw, leaving it in need of repair by a silversmith. This is something that we discuss with clients that makes us different from Harris (they typically use the multilevel silver) or other makers.
If we attempt to remove these plates and use to much torque, we can strip a screw! Now your show saddle is going to be missing a whole entire back piece of silver because there is nothing to reattach it to. Unfortunately, we have seen this with other services and people attempting it on their own. 
As we move forward, we do the best that we can, but there is a reason and professionalism behind what we do, and what we CHOOSE not to.
