Driven to Detail

Driven to Detail Stepping into a clean car sets the tone for your entire day. Let me transform your car back to like new condition. For me it's about the shine! The answer is YES!

Hi my name is Loni (she/her) and I have always loved automobiles. I admit I have no knowledge of what happens under the hood. For me it's the sleek lines, the paint colors, and the details that give me a thrill. My first vehicle love was a '55 Nash the lived parked on the same block as my grandparents house. Everyday, as pre-teen, I would walk by that car and dream of maybe having some cash to pur

chase her and get her going again. I never found the nerve to make an offer and regret that to this day. Since then my automobile ownership has been just enough, but I found myself always cleaning interiors (a given with kids) and experimenting on exteriors of older vehicles. Can I bring a cars paint job back to life? Can a sunlight faded dash have a new car shine?

Today's rain in Columbia Falls might have been my fault. I gave Black Betty a complete interior and exterior clean yesterday. You can thank us for a cozy rainy day today.

The RV roof repair is slow going and fingers are sore from peeling and prying, but the hard part is almost over!!! The best part is the roof will be leak free when complete. Today's surprise find was an incontinence pad used to plug a leak in the roof, it was found when the overlayment was removed. I am finding handy ways to move things up and down the ladder in this one woman show. Stay tuned.

Here's the latest on my camper roof repair and replace along with a few tips and tricks for my DIY friends.

1. Take photos as you disassemble so can remember which screws/bolts go where when you put it all back together.

2. Save the hot sun hours for sitting in the shade and performing the tedious task of goo removal from all your sticky metal trim.

3. Put a tarp below to throw the mess on. No one wants to sacrifice a tire to a screw or stable the went astray down below.

4. Get a hand chisel. Works great for peeling up goo and everything else!

5. Use temperatures to your advantage when removing goo. Put an ice pack around screw heads so the goo will freeze and completely chip away so you can then get to the screw head with your drill. In other places use the hot sun to make yourself into a sticky goo mess peeling off yards of butyl sealent.

6. Plan in going through a LOT of razor blades.

7. Don't forget your sunscreen, or in my case, don't mistake the hairspray bottle for your sunscreen.
