Some jobs remind you that there's a story behind every day's work.
This week was mainly spent a bridge construction project in Miami, Oklahoma, washing heavy equipment. It wasn't a simple rinse. Water was hauled, hot water and degreaser were used to remove built-up grease from fittings, and packed dirt was flushed from the radiators so the machines could stay cool, be properly regreased, and get back to work helping keep a million-dollar project moving forward.
Driving home after a long day, something unexpected came to mind.
When I was a young boy, my dad gave me toy versions of almost every piece of equipment just washed—cranes, bulldozers, loaders, dump trucks, and more. I spent countless hours imagining the work those machines could do. Today, I still have one of those old Tonka trucks sitting in my office. Years ago, I even pulled it out so my daughter could enjoy playing with it.
It made me realize something.
The time invested in children, the experiences given to them, and even the simple gifts shared can shape their lives in ways that may never be fully understood. You never know what spark you're planting or what passion you're helping grow.
Love your kids. Encourage them. Expose them to new experiences. Build memories with them. Those moments often last far longer than we realize.
Today I'm especially thankful for the parents who invested in me, and for the loyal customers who allow me to do work I genuinely enjoy.
