UMaine Extension’s Tick Lab recently released its 2024 Surveillance Report, revealing that 41.5% of deer ticks tested carried Lyme disease, with additional ticks carrying Babesia, Anaplasma, and even Powassan virus.

📍 Most tick encounters happened right at home, often during yardwork, yet only 16% of individuals reported using tick protection. The message is clear: Maine residents need to stay vigilant.

💡 The Tick Lab offers affordable testing ($20 per tick) and shares prevention tips through outreach efforts like the 4-H Tick Project.
