Did you know that annually in the USA there are typically around 25,000 chimney fires? Out of those there are over 13,500 injuries, over 3700 deaths and over $23 billion dollars in property loss. The sad part is that 100% of this is preventable and even worse insurance adjusters will do anything to deny a claim and cancel your policy when you need coverage the worst.
As a veteran chimney sweep of almost 42 years and a volunteer firefighter i see first hand the dangers, damage and yes deaths associated with “wood heat done wrong” This is why we dont just sweep your chimney we also inspect and share information about every aspect of “doing it right” We can promise our clients that if you simply follow our advice you will NEVER experience these things, it starts with DRY wood. If you dont have a firewood moisture meter your likely not doing it correctly.
We have about 6 months till winter and if you dont have this years wood PROPERLY STORED chances are good your wood will not be dry enough. 15% moisture is correct.
