FYI- While I applaud the National Fire Prevention Assoc. for there efforts in raising dryer fire awareness, it seems the main cause is not known to the public.Without going on and on, I'll sum it up really short. Yes, clean your house vent annually. But also think of the source of the fire! Lint builds up inside the dryer cabinet(even the $1000 models) What is inside the cabinet? That's right, the heat source ie ; heating element or gas burner. Once lint builds up around these items, the potential for ignition is present. At this point the dirty vent is nothing more than fuel for that fire.This is the reason why regular maintenance is so important. While some believe it's a sales gimmick, there is real value in safety and piece of mind.
