Tonight was a hard night as a business owner.
The thing people don’t tell you about when you start a business are the moments like this. The moments that stay with you long after the cleaning is done and you’re finally home laying in bed replaying everything in your head.
I truly want people to know that I wear my heart on my sleeve with Refresh & Renew. I take so much pride in my business and the work we do. When you hire us, you’re hiring honest, trustworthy, hardworking people who genuinely care. I love what I do. I love my clients. I love helping people and going above and beyond wherever I can.
My staff are more than just employees to me. They’re my people. They see the behind-the-scenes, the long nights, the stress, the pressure, and how deeply I care about every single cleaning we walk into. We want every client to feel happy and cared for when we leave their home.
But nights like tonight are hard.
We were doing a move-out clean in a home where the AC simply was not working properly. I have talked endlessly about temperatures in homes, not to be difficult, but because cleaning in extreme heat is genuinely miserable and physically exhausting. A house that feels like 73 degrees while sitting still can feel close to 80+ degrees when you’re constantly moving, scrubbing, lifting, and detailing for hours.
We brought fans in and pushed ourselves as hard as we could because I never want to let clients down. But when you’re dripping in sweat, feeling sick from the heat, trying your absolute best, and still leaving feeling defeated… it’s hard. Especially when there isn’t even a simple “thank you” or understanding at the end of it.
Please, from not just us but for any house cleaner you hire, make sure your home is cool before they arrive during these warmer months. We truly want to be there. We want to do a great job for you. We do not want to leave jobs unfinished or create hassle for anybody. We are more than happy to turn the thermostat back up before leaving if requested.
Tonight, something as simple as an AC not working properly left me and my crew feeling completely defeated. And as a business owner, those moments weigh heavy on me because I care deeply about what we do.
I appreciate every single one of you more than words could ever explain. This post is not meant to attack anybody or make anybody feel bad — I just needed to vent and be honest about the reality behind the scenes sometimes. Being a business owner can feel really heavy some days.
Truthfully, this post is hard for me to even make as I’m sitting in my car in complete silence just trying to decompress from the night and everything that came with it. But I think sometimes people only see the finished clean and not the physical and emotional toll that can come with doing this kind of work.
Thank you to the clients who appreciate us, support us, trust us, and treat us with kindness. It never goes unnoticed, and it means more to me than you know.
