On 12/9/25 at approximately 4:19 pm, officers of the Jamestown Police Department's 2nd Platoon responded to a residence on the South end of the city for a check the well-being after local school officials reported concerns regarding the welfare of children in the home. Upon investigation, officers determined that the residence was in severely unsafe and unsanitary condition. The apartment was found to have substantial sanitation concerns, environmental hazards, non-functional household facilities, and inadequate safe food resources. The overall condition of the home presented an immediate risk to the health and safety of the children. During the course of the investigation, it was also discovered that both parents had an active Order of Protection issued against them on behalf of the youngest child. As a result, Devin C. Perez and Christine M. Perez were each taken into custody and charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and one count of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree. The children were immediately removed from the residence with the assistance of Child Protective Services. Devin and Christine were transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where they are being held pending arraignment.
