I love this Ten Cleaning Business commandments and just want to share to everyone who either own a cleaning business or do cleaning as side hustle. Hope this will inspire us all 🙂
Ten Cleaning Business Commandments
1. THE PHONE WILL NOT DIAL FOR YOU - whether you have phone calls coming in, leads being submitted, or direct messages coming in. Your clients are not going to book themselves or wait forever for you to call
2. NO ONE CAN PRICE YOUR SERVICE FOR YOU - only you and you alone can create and set your pricing parameters for your business. No one outside your business should or can give you any bearings on your pricing.
3. IF YOU ARE CLOSING EVERY SINGLE CALL YOUR PRICES ARE TOO LOW - you should not and cannot cater for everyone. Your business isn’t a business if it is not making a profit.
4. YOUR CLEANERS ARE YOUR BUSINESS - without a dedicate person or an entire team your business will never be able to get up and off the ground and scale as you intend.
5. WORK ON YOUR BUSINESS NOT IN - if you are still cleaning you don’t own a business you created yourself a job. No one will be able to grow your business for you take yourself out and evaluate and delegate the work to the right people so you can continue to innovate
6. MARKETING IS NOT SALES - you as a business owner have to be able to manage marketing and sales. Leads coming in doesn’t always equate to sales. Master each side and balance perfectly to have a well oiled machine of new leads coming in each month and new customers being converted.
7. EVERY REVIEW IS A GOOD REVIEW - service based businesses work with people and people are never going to be 100% satisfied 100% of the time. Whether you have a 5 star or a 1 star review come in it all depends on how you respond and actively react to the remakes and comments publicly in online forums.
8. WITHOUT A PLAN YOU PLAN TO FAIL - going into a business without a plan on what you are going to accomplish that day, week, month, or year is su***de. You need a plan with action items and MASSIVE commitment everyday working towards those goals.
9. LOOK BETTER DO BETTER BE BETTER - the cleaning business is an old aged industry invest the time and effort to get your website, directory listings, graphics, content, and social media profiles consistent across all levels and cater towards your target audience consistently. If you look better and do better online than your competitors you WILL BE BETTER. A customers first impression of your business is what they see online.
10. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY - whether your cleaning team is subpar or even just not the best, if you have GREAT (not good) customer service people will want to work with you over the cleaning company who is a little better and cheaper each and every time no questions asked.
