Keep Jesus in your life people
🏁 Are You Ready to Run?
📖 Text:
Hebrews 12:1–2 (KJV)
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us,
and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”
⸻
🧭 Theme:
The Christian life is a race—not against others, but against distraction, sin, and self. We must run with focus, discipline, and faith, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus.
⸻
🪜 I. The Cloud of Witnesses
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses…”
• Meaning: We are not the first to run this race.
• Application: Learn from those who have run before you—biblical heroes, mentors, parents.
• Quote: “The dumbest thing you can ever do is ignore those who’ve run before you.”
• Cross-reference: Romans 15:4 – “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning…”
⸻
🧹 II. Laying Aside Every Weight & Sin
“…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us…”
• Weights = distractions, bad habits, negativity, fear, shame.
• Sins = the things that entangle us and keep us stuck.
• Illustration: BMX training with ankle weights – once removed, he flew down the track.
• Quote: “No extra spiritual fat. No parasitic sins.”
• Call to Action: What do you need to cut out in order to run for Jesus?
⸻
🏃 III. Run with Patience the Race Before You
“…and let us run with patience the race that is set before us…”
• Life is not a sprint, it’s a marathon.
• Patience = Endurance, persistence, long-term focus.
• Illustration: State BMX Championship – the discipline to not look back.
• Warning: “Looking back will slow you down and let the enemy catch up.”
• Cross-reference: Philippians 3:13–14 – “Forgetting those things which are behind…”
⸻
👀 IV. Focus on Jesus
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”
• Jesus is the ultimate runner—He started and finished the race.
• He endured the cross. We must endure life’s trials.
• He is the model and motivation.
• Call to Action: Stop looking at others. Stop looking at your past. Fix your eyes on Christ.
⸻
💥 V. The Greatest Enemy Is… You
• Quote: “Your opponent isn’t the devil. Your opponent is yourself.”
• Illustration: Losing a race not because others were faster, but because of looking back.
• Challenge: Don’t sabotage your own race. Don’t wait until you’re older. Run well now.
⸻
🧠 VI. The Race Is Urgent
• Tomorrow is not promised.
• Kids die too. Youth matters now.
• Quote: “What makes you think you’re going to grow up?”
• Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:15 – “Study to shew thyself approved…”
• Application: Start preparing now. Get in the Word. Strengthen your spiritual stride.
⸻
🏆 Conclusion: Finish Strong
• Illustration: In a race, lean in at the end. Don’t coast.
• We were built to win—not just to run.
• You were created to walk streets of gold, not live in spiritual defeat.
• Final Charge: “Don’t look back. Don’t waste your potential. Run your race. And win.”
