Here's a few more photos of the Nightingale. Somewhere near Badwater.. It was quite a place. People from all over came here to enjoy themselves for an evening or two at the Nightingale.

Ca. 1905 The Italian community proudly parade down East Hughitt Street. Prominently displayed in the street is the banner for the Order Sons of Italy in America (Figli d’Italia), a mutual aid society established to support Italian immigrants with financial aid, social solidarity, and cultural preservation.

333 Stephenson ave Seibert/Cudlip drug store 1904.
1906 Sam Cudlip became a "true" partner in the business. He bought Seibert out in 1921. Sam Cudlip was more than a pharmacist, it seems he truly was a chemist. His life was very interesting. He was a innovator in a time medications were minimal & not understood. The recipe shown in the photo is for acne cream. Some of the ingredients are Sublime sulfur, Tr lavender, glycerin, witch hazel & camphor water. He conducted business until 1943. He died one year later in 44. He was a staple in the community for so many years that it was hard for the community to trust another druggist.
Both of these men were pioneers of the area. They are both interred in the Iron Mountain Cemetery.

Ive gotten several requests texts from people the last few months about restoring photo's. I can see how people may think that. But the photos I post are a hobby. And there's no fancy footwork behind them, trust me. *I restore headstones and help with burials. It keeps me very busy.
But hey if I can run your photo through my AI & it works out then great. It did for someone tonight, I sent it back & then they can do what they want with it. But Im not a historian nor a photo restorationist. And I apologize if I come across as either.

You can have any color you want as long as its black~Henry Ford
1925 the Ford plant employed 7,271 men. Billerud which is considered to be a relatively big mill employs around 430 people. It's the best comparison I can come up with.
Its hard to wrap your mind around just how massive the Ford plant was.

In the roaring 20s these 2 places were the hot spots. Both located on/near Badwater. Top one is the Pine Gardens built by Joe Andrews of IM in 1924. The bottom photo is the Nightingale built by the Parmelee's in 1927. They were built across the street from each other. In attempt to stop these "dance halls" from opening the K*K burned a cross in a field behind the Nightingale. Not racially motivated. During the Prohibition they were used to intimidate people into not going to these places where they were known to have alcohol. They saw them to be immoral.
In the 20s the Klan was very active in Iron Mountain.
Both of these businesses burned down. One in 1931 & the other in 1940.

This is the Immaculate Conception Church that was in Quinessec. It was built in the 1870s. This was taken in 1880. The damage on the front was from lightning. The rest of the damage is from the storm. This church remained in use until the big fire in 1906. I wonder why the response from the community after this fire was.. nope, let's just move.
