As a CPST, I urge you to stop posting/selling/giving away aftermarket car seat inserts, head supports, strap covers, toys attached to seats, etc. if they did not come with the seat from the manufacturer. “It fits” does not mean it’s safe. Car seats are crash tested exactly as they come out of the box - adding products that were not approved by the manufacturer can change how the seat performs in a crash and may increase injury risk.

The same goes for secondhand car seats - ESPECIALLY if you are not the original owner. A car seat’s history matters more than people realize. Seats can have hidden damage, weakened materials, missing parts, improper cleaning damage, or crash exposure that you cannot see with your eyes.

If you insist on posting or passing along a secondhand seat, PLEASE include:
• Full crash history - even “minor” accidents matter
• How the seat has been cleaned in the past
• Manufacturer date
• Expiration date
• Any known damage, missing parts, wear, or defects

If anyone wants me to inspect a seat before buying or using it, I’m happy to help - but I will still require seat history including crash history and cleaning methods because visual inspection alone cannot confirm a seat is safe.

Child passenger safety is not about judgment or shaming parents - it’s about making informed decisions that protect kids in a crash 💛
