What makes stainless steel pools and spas faster to install?

It starts long before the installation team arrives.

With stainless steel, much of the engineering and fabrication takes place ahead of time at our production facility. Traditional concrete construction involves multiple on-site steps, including forming, pouring and curing, with weather often playing a role in the schedule. By shifting more of the work off-site, stainless steel can help simplify what happens at the jobsite and keep the project moving.

When you're comparing construction methods, don't just look at the finished pool. Look at what it takes to get there.

Not all pool filtration systems move water the same way.

Traditional pressure filters use pumps to push water through the media under pressure.

Natare's MicroFlo® Vacuum Sand Filtration System uses gravity to bring water into the filter, where it's drawn through the sand to capture fine particles. This approach provides efficient filtration while reducing some of the demands associated with high-pressure systems.

It's one of the differences worth understanding when evaluating filtration options for a commercial pool.

Your pool's interior finish can do more than look good.

Traditional plaster provides the finished surface of a concrete pool, but water containment depends on the integrity of the underlying structure.

Natare's Natatec® PVC membrane serves two purposes: it provides the finished interior surface while creating a watertight lining. Its reinforced construction and heat-welded seams can accommodate minor movement in the underlying structure without compromising the lining's integrity.

It's an important difference to understand when evaluating materials for a new pool or renovation.

Why does the material inside your pool bulkhead matter?

Because a bulkhead has a demanding job. It has to support swimmers, starting platforms and everyday deck activity while remaining rigid and stable in the pool.

Stainless steel provides a strong structural framework designed for those demands. Fiberglass bulkheads can flex and may experience cracking or deterioration as it ages. A bulkhead may look fairly simple from the deck, but there's a lot happening on the inside of it.

A renovation doesn’t always happen all at once - and at Sulphur Parks & Recreation in Louisiana, timing was an important part of the job.

Our work at SPAR Aquatics was completed in phases alongside other pool and deck improvements. We started by removing two existing bulkheads. We then installed new GPM™ grating around the facility’s 50-meter competition pool and 25-meter teaching pool before returning for the final “splash down” of two new Natare hybrid bulkheads.

The finished project gave the natatorium a fresh look while making the bulkheads easier for the SPAR team to operate.

But one of our favorite parts of the project was hearing about their experience with our team from their Recreation Manager:

“All of the Natare staff we worked with were friendly, professional, and helpful. Communication was excellent throughout every stage of the project, keeping us informed from start to finish.”

Great communication, careful coordination and a finished product that works better for the people using it -that’s what we like to see.

Why does pool weight matter? For a traditional in-ground pool, it might not be the first thing you think about. Move that pool onto a rooftop or elevated deck, and it's a very different conversation.

Stainless steel pools and spas are roughly 1/10th the weight of concrete construction. That means significantly less load for the supporting structure to carry and more flexibility when working through challenging site conditions.

It's one of the reasons stainless steel is worth considering early in the design process - especially when the pool isn't sitting directly on the ground.
