UPDATE at 4:20 p.m.: PG&E has CANCELED powerline work for today due to weather. I-80 will remain OPEN this afternoon.

I-80 FULL CLOSURE ALERT:

This afternoon at approximately 1:20 p.m. PG&E powerlines fell across all lanes of Interstate 80 eastbound near Cisco Grove. Traffic was temporarily held while PG&E arrived on scene and removed the downed powerlines from the roadway.

PG&E has now notified Caltrans that these were essential powerlines that must be replaced immediately. At 4:30 p.m. today, at the request of PG&E, Caltrans and CHP will initiate a FULL CLOSURE of I-80 while powerline repairs are made. PG&E estimates they will need approximately 1-2 hours for repairs. Full closures will be in effect at the following locations:
• I-80 eastbound at Nyack and Cisco Grove
• I-80 westbound at Truckee
• SR-20 eastbound at Nevada Street

This temporary closure WILL impact the evening commute.
