If your spruce tree has started turning brown from the top down, dropping bark, or showing patches of dead branches, IPS engraver beetles may be the cause.
Despite what many online sources claim, we see IPS beetle damage every year throughout Idaho Falls and Eastern Idaho—and in some cases, trees can decline rapidly once they're attacked.
In this article, we cover:
✔ How to identify IPS engraver beetles
✔ Common signs of infestation
✔ Why stressed spruce trees are most vulnerable
✔ What homeowners can do to protect their trees

Most homeowners don't think about grub damage until their lawn starts turning brown.

The problem is that by the time you notice the damage, the insects have often been feeding on the root system for weeks.

One of the most common signs? A lawn that looks dry no matter how much you water it.

We recently put together an article explaining:
• The two most common grub pests we find in Eastern Idaho lawns
• Why grub damage is often mistaken for drought stress
• How to identify root damage before it becomes severe
• What homeowners can look for in their own lawn

FREEZE WARNING TONIGHT ⚠️
Temperatures are expected to drop to around 25° tonight across Eastern Idaho. If your sprinkler system is already turned on, don’t forget to protect your Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB).
A frozen backflow/PVB can crack internally and turn into a very expensive repair once temperatures warm back up.

A few quick tips:
• Cover the PVB with an insulated cover, towel, or blanket
• If your system isn’t in use yet, shutting the water off and draining the assembly is even better.

Most sprinkler damage from spring freezes is completely preventable with a few minutes of preparation.
Stay warm out there.— Evergreen Lawn & Tree

Eastern Idaho is heading into what is being predicted to be one of the driest summers we’ve seen in a long time, and proper watering practices are going to matter more than ever this year.

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear every day is:
“How many minutes should I water?”

The reality is that watering longer does not always mean watering better.

In many cases, people are actually using significantly MORE water while still getting:
• poor pe*******on
• shallow roots
• runoff into the street
• dry spots
• and weaker lawns

We put together a detailed article explaining:
• how much water lawns in Eastern Idaho actually need
• how to measure your irrigation output
• why split watering works so well in our soils
• and ways to improve watering efficiency during drought conditions

With the water concerns we’re facing this year, hopefully this helps homeowners better understand how to water more effectively while reducing unnecessary waste.

Feel free to share this with anyone struggling with irrigation or watering schedules this summer.

Learn how to properly water your lawn during drought conditions in Eastern Idaho. Understand irrigation output, split watering, soil pe*******on, and how much water lawns actually need during hot, dry summers.

Spring in Idaho is a full personality disorder 😂

70° last week…
snow in the forecast this week…

now everyone’s at Walmart fighting over sheets to save their cherry trees

Meanwhile the grass:
“yeah I’m still growing”

So… we still mowin’

If you know, you know 😂

Most people spend thousands on trees to build out their landscape… then assume they’ll just take care of themselves.

The reality is, trees in our area deal with constant pressure from insects and disease. By the time you notice something is wrong, the damage is usually already done.

Losing a mature tree doesn’t just hurt the look of your property—it can completely change it.

Preventative care is what keeps that from happening. Catching issues early and staying ahead of them is what keeps trees healthy, full, and thriving year after year.

Your lawn is waking up right now—here’s what to do before it’s too late.

Spring in Idaho is weird. One week it feels like winter, the next your lawn is trying to come out of dormancy—and what you do during this window makes a huge difference in how it looks the rest of the year.

Most people wait until their lawn is green to start doing something… and by then, they’re already behind.

I put together a simple breakdown of what actually matters in early spring—what to do, what to avoid, and how to set your lawn up to come in thick and healthy.

We covered this at a seminar last week, and this is the same overview I shared there 👇

Spring Lawn Care in Idaho Falls: What to Do in Early Spring for a Healthy Lawn Spring in Eastern Idaho can feel all over the place—cold mornings, random snow, then a warm day that makes you think everything should be green already. But here’s the reality: What you do in the first 30–45 days of
