Happy New Year 2022. We hope you are healthy and happy among the current COVID conditions. We’ve had our challenges so far this year but I believe we’re all past Omnicron.

I’m communicating today regarding the forecast for the next couple days. The overwhelming majority of our customers have newer systems and this equipment is protected with what we call freeze protection. This is designed by the manufacturers to continuously run your equipment so there is no standing water. This generally happens around 38 degrees but can very a couple degrees depending on location.

If you lose power and your equipment shuts off, remove the drain plugs located on the wet side of the pump, take the lid off, flip the breaker to the off position, and drain your filter from the plug located in the bottom. This is the best course of action to keep the damage to a minimum. Also, if you have a reverse flow preventer for an autofill insulate or cover up. An autofill will have standing water and has a higher potential to freeze. It’s not a bad idea to throw an old blanket over the filter and multiport valve (not over the pumps).

Additionally, we always proceed on the side of safety. If roads have the potential to be slick and/or dangerous our start will be delayed until conditions improve.

Thank you for being a valued customer of Major services,

From our swimming pool service and repair division, I believe we’re assembling the finest team of swimming pool professionals in Austin. We have 80 years of combined service experience and continue to train on the newest and latest equipment being manufactured. Our relationships with the manufacturers is one of our greatest assets as we’re a warranty station for both Pentair and Fluidra.

We are continuing to have challenges when it comes to repair items. Manufacturers experienced record demand in 2020 due to new pool starts and it continued into 2021 and made worse by the freeze of the century. An estimated 200,000 pools in Texas alone were reported with freeze damage. Manufacturing is at capacity and made worse due to the Delta variant of COVID as we all continue to be affected.

Additionally, it is true that central Texas is experiencing a chemical shortage and prices continue to increase. We are doing our best to maintain our current prices and I don’t foresee any increase this year. Hopefully we’ll be completely over the COVID of 2020 and The Big Freeze of 2021 by year 2022. :) That said, we recommend a mineral balance at least once a year for your pool. This balance is a $95 cost and is a natural algae inhibitor and clarifier. Remember your filter service as well. If you have a DE or cartridge filter, the manufacturer recommends a minimum of 2 filter services a year ($135 each) but in some cases it’s better to have it 3 times a year.

Although our techs do prepare work orders, it is imperative that you communicate with our office via phone call at 512-609-8363 or by email. This ensures your concerns are addressed and we can log in our customer management program. If you have communicated with someone other than the office and have not received any reply, please call the number above. If you have a repair we will send a work order/estimate to you for approval. Sometimes this comes with a diagnostic fee. This diagnostic fee is applied to a repair if you accept within 48 hours and will reduce from the final invoice by the diagnostic amount. Once the work order is accepted, we then order repair items and schedule repair.

Our lawn service and landscaping division continues to grow. We service both commercial and residential accounts. It always makes us happy to have current customers recommend us to their friends and neighbors. If you have a referral for us there's a gift card coming your way!

Our chemical service includes w**d control and fertilization, pest control (outside), and aeration. Also, we offer chemical service for the do it yourself homeowner. If this is a service you’d be interested in call us at 512-609-8363 and ask for Scott.

I know it’s hard to believe, but from our Christmas Light division, it is time to start scheduling your installation. For new customers, please call us to discuss measurements and color options as it is time to preorder and our schedule does fill up fast. We measure and install your Christmas lights, take down and store for the following year. As funny as it sounds, we do start decorations in October wrapping trees and some of the more complicated tasks. Please keep in mind that squirrel damage is not covered under our warranty, but most everything else is. Call us for details.

Lastly, we’re doing everything we can to keep costs in check as inflation is causing cost of almost all goods to increase at a crazy rate. Major Services will be instituting a convenience fee of 4% on credit card payments over $300. This small convenience fee helps enable us in keeping our costs to you as low as possible. Additionally, at this time we'll have to enact a late payment fee. If a current invoice is not paid within 15 days we'll include a 15% late fee on the following invoice cycle. This will start on the September 2021 billing cycle. We do have many other payment options available, so please call to discuss.

I believe COVID-19 has affected most of us and we're no exception. Our employees have lost family members and others have been hospitalized due to this illness. Please keep these good people in your thoughts and prayers for healing and comfort.

First of all, thank you for your continued support and patience as we recover from SNOVID. We’ve repaired hundreds of pools and are getting to everyone as soon as the equipment is available!

We are automating our customer management systems which means you will get immediate, real-time updates, closing reports with photos, invoices and communication from your pool technicians. This will go directly to your email on file and will come from Major Services.

Temporary store front hours are: Wednesday - Friday noon to 5pm. We will let you know when this changes!

Everything we do is to ensure we can provide a great customer experience from scheduling to invoicing and everything in between.

Greetings from Major Services/Twin Peak Pool Service.

I want to start off by saying thank you for your patience. We’re doing everything we can for customers that are still affected by the winter storm of the century a few short weeks back.

As mentioned in previous communications from Twin Peak Pool Service, Bill and Amy Peek have retired and the organization was sold to me, Shannon, of Major Services. The sale was finalized just before the storm and with over 200,000 swimming pools damaged in Texas, it seems the challenges have been endless.

On that note, one of our biggest challenges has been from the supply chain. We have high demand and a severely distressed supply chain caused by the record number of new construction, shutdowns due to the pandemic, and the winter storm of the century. I’ve spoken directly with the manufacturers regarding the shortage and they assure me everything that can be done is being done and as many repair items as possible are being diverted to Texas. However, lead times are 60-90 days in some cases so we have pre-ordered as much as we can to try and offset this lag.

In communicating with all our supply houses, we’ve also been notified that due to the above mentioned constraints, the largest cost increase in history is taking place. This increase also includes chemicals which prices have already doubled since the fall of 2020 and in recent weeks gasoline. I will do my very best to keep your service and maintenance costs the same as you are today through 2021 and hopefully beyond.

From the transition perspective, things are going well. Our cleaning and repair technicians are transitioning to a new system that will email a closing report. These reports are more reliable and take the place of the door hangers, and are intended to communicate with you on a more consistent basis letting you know when and who is in your back yard. The report will also include general condition of your pool, what was added from a chemical perspective, and notes from our employees. This information will be stored and we can reference the history of your pool which assists in any diagnostics that might be needed.

Also, invoicing will look a little different. Transactions will be coming from Major Services as we bring everything under one accounting system intending to make us much more efficient and bring customer service to the next level.

In closing, I want to thank you for your business and continued patience as we work diligently to continue service and maintenance, and all repairs to your swimming pool as quickly as possible.
