We know it can be exciting when your little one grows โ and tempting to move them into a โbig kidโ high backed booster seat. But did you know that children under the age of 5 are not yet ready for this stage of travel?
Hereโs why we recommend keeping children in a 5-point harness for as long as possible โ and not transitioning to a high backed booster until at least age 5 (and often older):
๐ถ ๐๐ผ๐ฑ๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐:
Young children donโt yet have the muscle tone or impulse control needed to sit safely in a booster seat for the whole journey. They may slump, lean forward, or reach for things โ all of which can put them at serious risk in a crash.

Harnessed seats spread crash forces across the strongest parts of a childโs body โ shoulders and hips โ while keeping them firmly in place.

Even if your child technically meets the size minimum for a booster, that doesnโt mean theyโre ready developmentally. Maturity is just as important!

At Simply Safe Car Seats, we recommend keeping your child in a rear or forward-facing harnessed seat until at least age 5 โ and often beyond โ depending on their size and readiness.
